The Perfect Patient

When Audrey was a baby, she would cry every time we went to the pediatrician. She was afraid of men and since our pediatrician is a man, well, it wasn't a good combination. At her 18 month appointment, everything changed. She didn't cry, she was cooperative. It was like she was a completely different child!

This week we had to venture back to the doctor because Audrey had a high fever. Well that and because she told me "I need to go doctor." Of course she also says that after she stubs her toe, but this time it was different. ;) Since it was 7 pm, we went to Acute Kids (which is like a Care Now for kids). The doctor came in and concluded that Audrey needed a nose and throat swab to check for the flu and strep. While we were waiting for the nurse, we explained to Audrey that she is going to need to open her mouth really wide when the nurse comes back so that she can swab her mouth. Right when the door opened, Audrey immediately opened her mouth wide and sat there waiting. She sat still during both swabs and said 'thank you' when they were done.

What a perfect patient!!!! Maybe it's because she watches 'Elmo goes to the doctor' a lot....
